"Here we go again, in the gutter with all our friends!" Such is the motto of BONUS EVENTUS as they prepare for their surprising return to the world after a near-decade long hiatus.
Things change: after cutting their teeth in the NYC rock scene, the band has since dispersed across the country - from the bustling boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, to the vast farms of southern Michigan, all the way to the purple mountain majesty of Colorado. And yet for their latest release, "A Wake," distance was just a number on a dashboard. Cobbled together from interstate, at-home recordings, the new release epitomizes the DIY spirit of early BONUS EVENTUS.
Things stay the same: age and experience may have wizened these former gutter-pop rockers to the challenges of life and American idealism (see: opening track "American Motives"), but vivid tragedy remains in the hearts of men when it comes to love and loss ("No Skin;" "Rum Gums").
Ten years older, but still as unvarnished as ever, "A Wake" finds BONUS EVENTUS pushing the pop boundaries of their signature party rock sound, all while exploring more complex perspectives on life, relationships, and the world at large. Here we go again, indeed!
